Vanessa MacDonald
LL.B., B.Sc., BLL. Grad Dip Legal Prac. - Solicitor
Vanessa grew up in Brisbane with a large extended family. She finished school early and became a Registered Nurse at the age of 19. She went back to university and studied post graduate law at Griffith University and paid for her law degree by working full-time as a theatre nurse. She loved studying law and eventually graduated with two academic medals and achieved Honours.
Her partner Scott (now husband) moved to the Northern Territory for work so she followed and did her professional year at the largest law firm in Darwin. She was admitted as a Solicitor and Barrister in the Northern Territory Supreme Court in 2005 which was a very special day for her after having studied for 8 years. Following this, Vanessa and Scott moved back to Brisbane and she worked for a mid-tier firm doing personal injury litigation and in particular, Defendant Compulsory Third Party Insurance Litigation with a large insurance firm being her main client.
Vanessa then took four years off work to travel and have two children, Leila and Finlay.
After moving to Mackay late 2010, she decided she wanted to return to law and pursue work as a family lawyer - an area of law she was interested in and hadn't had the chance to practice in. She began working for Macrossan and Amiet in January 2011 in the Family Law division with Damian Carroll, Partner.
She is enjoying living in Mackay, visiting the Whitsunday Islands and discovering new four wheel driving tracks with her family. She loves how friendly everyone is in Mackay, short commute times to work and living at the beach. Her next goal is to finish the last subject to obtain a Masters in Law.
