Macrossan and Amiet entered a team in the Airlie Beach Running Festival Corporate Challenge on Sunday 21 July 2019.
The team came in first, beating Whitsunday Law – by a significant margin!
Sam Sticklan came first for the women with a time of 23 minutes 48 seconds. Her son, Seb Sticklan, came first for the men with a time of 30 minutes 41 seconds. Official times have Jack Telford coming in first for men and having set some kind of record, which is quite funny because Jack sprained his ankle badly on Friday and therefore could not run on Sunday. We collected his paraphernalia and left it near the start finish line. In each participants number there is a computer chip which activates the timeclock and records the time for each participant. So, someone must’ve moved the chip past the finish line and it has recorded his time, even though he wasn’t there. Jack is now concerned because it is his schools cross-country this week and his teachers saw this amazing time and now think he is a future cross-country world champion.
The running festival is now in its seventh year and has been recognised by Athletics North Queensland as the event of the year!
It was a fun day and is a great event for our local community.
