Andrew Telford – Celebrating 25 years

andrewIn recent months our Cannonvale Director, Andrew Telford, passed the career milestone of having been admitted as a Solicitor for 25 years.   Andrew was admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court at Townsville in March 1991.  To put this in some perspective, Bob Hawke was still the Prime Minister, Wayne Goss was the Premier and the Broncos did not win their first premiership until the next year in 1992.

Following his admission, Andrew commenced working for Bill Cusack in Proserpine.  Andrew acquired Mr Cusack’s practice in 1993 and later became a partner in Macrossan & Amiet in August 2004.

When reflecting on his 25 years of post-admission experience Andrew commented that it has been a journey for him having grown up on a cane farm in Proserpine, studying law in Brisbane and then working as an articled clerk, first in Rockhampton and then from 1989 in Airlie Beach.  Andrew  went on to say “the Whitsunday region has grown and will continue to grow.  I am optimistic that in the next few years our area will develop an even greater role as a major destination for both local and foreign tourists.  The Whitsundays has been good to me and my family.  I am grateful to be able to live in what is essentially a small country town and at the same time practising a wide range of areas and to have the opportunity to be involved in a number of significant and unique development projects.”

“Most of all, I welcome the opportunity to help the local people with their day to day legal requirements.  I have known many of my clients all of my life.  I enjoy the fact that my clients are not just clients but are my friends and people that I and my family have grown up with over a period spanning five generations.”

Andrew has, over the years, provided free legal assistance to many worthy and needy individuals and local organisations and is currently serving as a Committee Member of the Whitsunday Coast Chamber of Commerce, a founding Director of the local Bendigo Community Bank and he is also a Director of Tourism Whitsundays.

The Managing Director of Macrossan & Amiet, Stuart Naylor, said that, “Andrew’s consistent presence in the Whitsundays is reflective of Macrossan & Amiet’s ongoing long term commitment to the communities of Mackay and Whitsunday”.  Mr Naylor said that, “Macrossan & Amiet has the stability of very capable long serving directors and staff which when combined with our progressive attitude ensures that the service provided by Macrossan & Amiet is of the highest possible standard.”
