With many of our clients now facing never-before seen challenges, our firm continues to evolve its practices to provide legal advice and support to our clients through Covid-19.
Originally established under the Founders name in 1895 Fred C Macnish, Vince Macrossan joined the firm in 1904. In no time the pair moved their booming business to bigger premises. Fred Macnish later left the firm and in 1920. Bill Amiet joined Vince Macrossan and at that time the firm name changed to Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors.
Vince Macrossan came from one of the most respected legal families in Queensland and Bill Amiet was a man of many talents including a respected scholar, poet, linguist and astronomer. The WA Amiet Library at the James Cook University in Mackay is named after him and in true Macrossan & Amiet fashion, the firm contributed substantially to those buildings over the years.
Macrossan & Amiet have for many years given back to their community through numerous community sponsorships including the Macrossan & Amiet Mackay Eisteddfod. The Macrossan & Amiet Charitable Foundation was founded by the firm in 1995 and along with other reputable local businesses like SH Tait & Co, they meet all administrative costs of the Foundation and distribute funds to local charitable organisations each year. To date the Foundation has distributed in excess of $708,000 to local charities.
Notwithstanding changes in ownership and offices over the years, Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors have maintained their core values which include a strong commitment to the local community and this has paved the way for their success which continues 125 years on from Fred Macnish.
