June 30 ends an era for local legal firm, Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors as Director, Damian Carroll, steps into retirement and hangs up his tie after 34 years with the firm. Along with working at the main office in Mackay, Damian has been a regular in the Proserpine and Cannonvale Offices over the past 20 years where he meets with clients, particularly those who need help with Family Law matters. Travelling to the area every Thursday for 20 years has been a highlight of his career with the firm. “We saw a gap in the market all those years ago and wanted to make sure our clients were able to seek professional legal advice and were not disadvantaged due to our main office being in Mackay. I started visiting the region” Says Damian, “and I just kept coming, for 20 years”.
Damian is going to miss his weekly trips to the area and catching up with his clients but is happy in the knowledge that his colleague Samantha Sticklan will be taking his place. Samantha has been with the firm for over a year and is the only accredited Family Law Specialist in the Whitsundays. Samantha will be one of the three new incoming Directors for the firm, which also includes Paul Formosa and Caitlin Roberts. This young team of Directors will have youth on their side along with passion for the law and their Law Firm. Paul is son to long-time Director John Formosa who also has a strong connection to our region.
Samantha has been practicing law since 2004 when she relocated to Mackay fresh out of University. Having grown up in a small country town in Northern NSW with a Father who practiced as a solicitor, it’s not surprising to her that she has ended up at Macrossan & Amiet. “When I started working at Macrossan & Amiet in 2018 I immediately felt like I was home. What I love is that the firm is filled to the brim with knowledge and experience and the Directors are more than happy to share their experience with everyone at the firm. It’s fantastic to continue my career not only at Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors but as a Director of the firm. I’m looking forward to stepping up to that challenge along with mentoring our younger associates. I am also loving visiting Proserpine and Cannonvale and look forward to building long lasting relationship within the region.
Travelling weekly to the Whitsunday region to provide Family Law advice to clients is an important part of what Macrossan & Amiet has to offer. “It is quite an emotional area of law and face to face contact with clients is really important. With me coming on board as a Director of the Firm, clients can be satisfied that Macrossan & Amiet will be providing specialist Family law advice in the region for many years to come.”
