On Friday the 22nd August 2014, the Macrossan & Amiet Foundation convened for its annual meeting. The result was the allocation of $39,995 in distributions to various registered charitable organisations throughout Mackay, the Whitsundays including Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville. The number of recipients totaled 16.

Of note is a payment of $11,000.00 to Cootharinga North Queensland to assist with the acquisition of mobility equipment for 3 severely handicapped residents of Mackay.

Also, a distribution of $4,695.00 has been made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Queensland for a 13 year old boy to buy a high-low adjustable electric bed. The bed will increase the ability of the young child who lives with Duchenne MD which will allow him to use the controls to adjust his position in the bed which will also assist his parents through the day and night when turning him in bed and moving him to and from his electric wheelchair.

The Trustees were pleased with the number of applications that were made for funding this year and have implemented a plan for $250.00 bursaries to be made to each high school in the region which comprises Mackay, Sarina and surrounding areas as well as the Whitsunday region. There are at least 14 high schools in the region. It is intended for the Foundation to write to the Principal of each school at the beginning of next year to advise that the Foundation would like to make a gift to a Year 11 student of merit as considered by the relevant Principal for an amount of $250.00.

The Foundation’s intention is to make this an annual gift to each of the high schools in the region. The Trustees would like all to take note of the Foundation’s ability to make distributions to worthwhile causes. All organisations are encouraged to apply for funding next year. Applications for funding will close at the end of June 2015 and the Trustees would invite and encourage applications to be made at any time up until then. To be eligible for funding your organisation must be endorsed as a deductible gift recipient pursuant to the Income Tax Assessment Act.
