When we think of law firms and their owners we often think of not only men but experienced men as opposed to young men and women, but from July 1st this isn’t the case at local law firm Macrossan & Amiet.
Macrossan & Amiet are delighted to announce 28-year-old solicitors Paul Formosa & Caitlin Roberts have become part owners of the firm. Macrossan & Amiet have always been proactive when it comes to business planning and their approach to succession planning is no exception. Renewal is a vital aspect to maintaining success for most businesses and the team at Macrossan & Amiet continue to focus on the future of the firm, which includes incorporating youth into the firms group of owners.
Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors is one of Queensland’s most reputable law firms and has been serving the people of Mackay and the surrounding districts since 1895. Many in the region will know the name John Formosa but may not realise his son Paul, who joined the firm in 2010 also works at the Law Firm. Paul is excited to be following in his father’s footsteps at the firm and becoming part owner cements his commitment to the firm and his clients but also his passion for the region.
At the young age of 28, Paul & Caitlin bring a younger person’s outlook and life experience to the table which is valuable for the Firm as it moves forward. Whilst Paul & Caitlin will not become directors immediately, this is a huge step forward for their careers and for the firm. They will become directors over the next few years and join the existing 7 directors as the head of the firm.
Paul Formosa, the son of long term Principal John Formosa, joins Pat Carroll as a second-generation owner in the business which is a testament to the firms approach to business and its employees and shows it is a family at its core. Paul is the Migration Agent and practices primarily in Migration, Business & Property transactions with a special interest in Agribusiness matters. Paul started working with Macrossan & Amiet in December 2010 following in his father’s footsteps.
Caitlin Roberts has the unique status of being the first female owner in Macrossan & Amiet’s long history and the firm is extremely proud to have her come on board as an owner. Caitlin has been with the firm since 2013 and works in all areas of Civil Litigation including Personal Injury and other insurance claims, Estate litigation, Employment, Debt collection & Family matters.
Managing Director Stuart Naylor said “We’re extremely proud of being an employer of choice in the region for local solicitors and having both Paul and Caitlin, who bring experience, youth and a fresh outlook, come on board as owners is a huge step forward for us. We’re extremely proud to have Caitlin on board as the first female owner. She has been an asset to our firm since her arrival in 2013. On behalf of the firm we congratulate Paul & Caitlin on taking this next step in their careers. Paul & Caitlin have worked hard to get to where they are today, and have earned the opportunity they now take up. There are many challenges ahead. The way the legal profession operates now is very different to 10 years ago, and will be very different again in another 10 years. It is vital to maintaining success that we, as lawyers, respond and adapt to ensure we continue to meet our client’s needs, even as those needs change or evolve.”
