Tackling Alcohol-Fuelled Violence Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 was passed earlier this month in the Queensland Parliament.
Primarily, if you go out to clubs and licensed premises and you are someone that stays out very late, the changes will impact you as follows:-
- Firstly, the 2am last drinks will operate in all venues outside of ‘Safe Night Out Precincts’, and 3am last drinks for venues within the precincts, from 1 July 2016.
- Secondly, the lockout for the 15 Safe Night Out Precincts will start on 1 February 2017. This requires that the lockout starts at 1am and no one will be allowed into the venue between 1am and 3am. However, if you are already within the venue you can stay until 3am. If you leave after 1am you will not be allowed to re-enter.
There are some limited exceptions to these rules such as Casinos which not have to comply with the above regulations.
