Brigid Paterson is the youngest of the Paterson family and is following the footsteps of her father, Gene, and two sisters, Georgina and Charlotte.
Brigid was born in Mackay and attended St Patrick’s College, Mackay. She attained a Bachelor of Laws in 2013 from the Queensland University of Technology. The following year, Brigid underwent practical legal training from the Directors at Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors with whom she worked for, for 13 months.
In 2015, Brigid was appointed as a Judges Associate to his Honour Judge Baulch SC in the District Court of Queensland at Townsville. In the same year, Brigid was admitted as a Lawyer to the Legal Profession.
After working as a Judges Associate, Brigid worked as a Lawyer at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (“DPP”), Brisbane. In this role, she appeared for the State of Queensland in the conduct of sentences, breach hearings, summary pleas, bail applications, bail variations, committal hearings and procedural mentions. Brigid has appeared in the District Court of Queensland, Children’s Court of Queensland, Magistrates Court of Queensland and the Domestic Violence Court. At the DPP, she was required to analyse briefs of evidence to determine which charges should be laid on indictment. Brigid also engaged in charge negotiations with Solicitors for the Defendant aimed at identifying and pursuing opportunities for early resolution of matters.
Brigid understands the importance of contributing to the community and has walked in the QPILCH legal walk for the past 2 years.
Outside of work, Brigid enjoys spending time with her baby nieces and maintains interests in the arts, sports, travelling and occasionally, cooking.
