Changes to annualised wages in Modern Awards took effect on 1 March 2020 and if you’re an employer these amendments will require you to review your contracts to ensure that you are continuing to comply with your obligations.

Minimum Wage Increase from 1 July 2019
The Fair Work Commission has issued their Annual Wage Review which will apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2019 and will see both the national minimum wage and the modern award minimum wages increase by 3%.
Domestic Violence Leave
From 1 August 2018 employees may now be entitled to take unpaid leave to deal with family and domestic violence following a decision by the Fair Work Commission.

To give some common examples, where this might occur is where you might damage property in the workplace or even an employer taking amounts out of your wage to top up a cash register that hasn’t balanced after your shift. However, if your employer has ever actually taken deductions from your wage for those reasons, or any reasons similar, they may be breaching national employment legislation.
